Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Disrupt Ransom Exchange In Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped woman in Kebbi State after disrupting a planned ransom exchange.

The woman was abducted from her farm last month. According to the military accounts carried by the reports, troops moved in after receiving intelligence that a ransom handover was about to take place.

The acting spokesperson for the operation, Col. Olaniyi Osoba, said the troops mobilised to intercept the transaction in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. The kidnappers reportedly opened fire after sighting the advancing troops, but retreated and abandoned the hostage.

The rescued woman was found unharmed and taken to safety before being reunited with her family. Troops also searched the route used by the fleeing kidnappers before returning to base.

Osoba said troops later carried out clearance and dominance patrols in parts of Ngaski Local Government Area without incident. He said the operation would keep pressure on terrorists and bandits in Kebbi and urged residents to share useful information with security agencies.

The rescue is another recent security incident in the North-West involving Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which has been conducting operations against armed groups across affected communities.
