Troops rescued a man and recovered 18 rustled cattle after responding to an attack on Rambo village in Kebbi State, according to Operation Fansan Yamma.
The military said the operation took place on Sunday, October 18, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. Soldiers from Sector 2 worked with local vigilantes after a distress call about suspected terrorists attempting to abduct residents and steal livestock.
Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the operation’s media information officer, said troops exchanged fire with the attackers, who fled. His statement was reported by Punch and Daily Post.
The military identified the rescued resident as 40-year-old Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara. It said he and the recovered cattle were handed over to the district head of Rambo village.
In separate operations on the same day, troops and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency personnel raided suspected drug-trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye and Gubba communities in Maiyama Local Government Area.
Four suspects were arrested and substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered, according to the statement. The suspects and the substances were handed to the NDLEA command in Maiyama for investigation.
Danja urged residents to give security agencies timely and credible information to support operations in the area.
