President Bola Tinubu has suspended three permanent secretaries after anti-corruption investigators uncovered a fresh fake office operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The office was named as the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office. It was allegedly given space within the OSGF without presidential approval or legal backing.

The affected permanent secretaries are M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah. Tinubu also ordered the arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze, who was named as the alleged promoter of the office.

ICPC chairman Musa Aliyu said the discovery followed briefings to the President and formed part of a wider review of irregular offices and schemes operating around government institutions.

Premium Times reported that Nwabueze was also linked to four other variations of his name: George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze and Dr George Nwabueze. The anti-corruption agency said the matter was being investigated as a case of alleged impersonation and abuse of government processes.

The suspensions make the case a new enforcement step in the Federal Government’s wider crackdown on fake agencies and unauthorised offices.
