Three people were killed and five others injured after gunmen attacked Chiromawa town in Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State and abducted a traditional title holder.

The abducted man was identified as Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, the Sarkin Noma of Kano State. The attack happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Garun Malam council chairman, Aminu Salisu Kadawa.

Kadawa said the gunmen went to the residence of the Sarkin Noma and opened fire. He said three people died in the attack, while five injured residents were taken for treatment.

Security operatives were reported to have begun efforts to rescue the abducted title holder and track the attackers. The reports did not give a ransom demand or identify the group behind the attack.
