The Army says troops rescued an abducted man, killed two suspected kidnappers and recovered N10 million paid as ransom during an operation in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The rescued man, Kabiru Aliyu, was abducted at Fanyabo village on October 11 while reportedly returning from Yandoka Market in Kaduna State at about midnight.

In a statement issued on Saturday, October 17, 3 Brigade spokesperson Babatunde Zubairu said the abductors contacted Aliyu’s family in Yan Taburmi and demanded money for his release.

Zubairu said troops of 3 Brigade, operating under Operation MESA, acted on intelligence and mounted an ambush with police personnel, the Department of State Services and local hunters.

The Army said other members of the group fled into Falgore Forest. A subsequent search recovered the ransom, which was returned to Aliyu and his family.

Brigade commander Brigadier-General Saka Jimoh urged residents to provide security agencies with timely information.
