Sultan Denies Backing Tinubu For 2027
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar, has denied reports claiming he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 election.
The Sultan Media Team said the monarch had not urged Nigerians to back Tinubu or any other politician. Daily Trust reported that the team dismissed the circulating claim and said the Sultan had no favourite candidate for the next presidential election.
Daily Post also reported the denial, saying the Sultan insisted he had not endorsed Tinubu for re-election. The response followed claims spreading on social media that he had asked Nigerians to support the president.
The denial matters because traditional and religious leaders are often pulled into election narratives, especially when their comments are shared without full context.
The Sultan’s team said Nigerians should ignore the claim and treat it as false.
