Adeniyi Adeyemi, linked to the disputed presidential council allegations

The Presidency has cleared Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila of involvement in an alleged forged appointment letter tied to a disputed presidential council and its acclaimed director general, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

In a statement, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said Gbajabiamila’s office did not issue any appointment letter to Adeyemi and had asked security agencies to investigate alleged fraudsters and impostors linked to the purported council.

Daily Trust reported that the Presidency also described Adeyemi as a con artist, while noting that the matter had drawn concern because of official-looking engagements and claims around a council described as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

Daily Post reported that the State House account said agencies noticed the group carrying out official-looking activities, including diplomatic-related engagements, before security agencies were directed to investigate forged documents.

The Presidency said the Chief of Staff’s office does not independently create or issue appointments to agencies, and urged the public to allow the court process determine the culpability of the accused persons.
