Police have deployed helicopters, drones, mobile police units and other tactical teams for the Osun governorship election scheduled for Saturday.

The deployment was announced as security agencies moved to reassure voters and prevent violence around polling units, collation centres and major routes across the state.

Punch and Daily Post both reported the same deployment details, including the use of aerial surveillance and MOPOL personnel for election-day security.

The police said the operation would cover flashpoints and other sensitive locations. Officers were also expected to work with other security agencies during the poll.

The deployment follows earlier security activity in the state, including route marches and public warnings against vote-buying, ballot snatching and political violence.
