Plateau begins N1.5bn support for attack victims

Plateau State has begun distributing N1.5bn in humanitarian support to families affected by violent attacks across five local government areas.

The state government said the support will reach 1,571 households in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom and Bassa. The package combines N1bn donated by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu through the Renewed Hope Initiative and N500m from the Plateau State Government.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang said the intervention was meant to help displaced and affected families rebuild after repeated attacks on communities. The government said the money would be shared through a verified list of beneficiaries across the affected local government areas.

Premium Times reported that the support was announced in a statement by Gyang Bere, the governor’s director of press and public affairs. Channels Television also reported the disbursement and said the state framed it as part of a broader effort to help victims recover from violence in the affected communities.

The support comes after repeated attacks in Plateau communities, where residents have continued to ask for stronger security and help for families who lost homes, relatives or livelihoods.
