PFL Africa Lands in Lagos With the Biggest MMA Event West Africa Has Ever Seen

Mixed martial arts is about to get a whole lot louder in Lagos. The Professional Fighters League has confirmed that PFL Africa will make its Nigeria debut at the Eko Convention Center on Saturday, June 13, 2026, marking what the organisation is calling the largest MMA event in West African history.

Headlining the card is Nigeria’s own Wasi “The Nigerian Jaguar” Adeshina (10-3), who steps into the cage against Spain’s Ignacio “Nacho” Campos (7-2) in a featherweight showcase bout. Adeshina fighting on home soil is a big deal. Nigerian fight fans have been waiting for a moment like this, where one of their own gets to headline a card of this magnitude in Lagos, not London or Las Vegas.

The co-main event features another Nigerian, Patrick “Star Boi” Ocheme (8-1), taking on Cameroon’s Octave “The Bantu Warrior” Ayinda (7-1) in a lightweight tournament first-round bout. Ocheme will have the crowd behind him, and he will need it. Ayinda is a legitimate threat, coming in with a 7-1 record and every intention of spoiling the homecoming party.

Elias Schulze, General Manager of PFL Africa, did not hold back when talking about the Lagos event. “Making our West African debut in Lagos is a major milestone for PFL Africa,” he said. “Nigeria brings incredible passion, culture, and talent, and Lagos is the perfect stage for this moment.” He is not wrong. The city’s energy is going to be something else on fight night.

This is not just about one event. PFL Africa’s move into Nigeria signals serious intent. The continent has been producing world-class fighters for years, from Israel Adesanya to Kamaru Usman, but the infrastructure and platforms for local talent to develop have been limited. Bringing a global organisation like PFL to Lagos gives African fighters a visible pathway that simply did not exist before.

The Eko Convention Center is no small venue. For context, it has hosted some of Nigeria’s biggest entertainment events. Packing it out for an MMA card would send a clear message to the rest of the combat sports world: Africa is not just a talent pipeline for western promotions. It is a market in its own right.

Additional bouts for the card will be announced in the coming weeks, and if the first two matchups are any indication, the full card should be worth the wait. SuperSport and Canal+ will carry the broadcast across Africa.

Tickets are not yet on sale, but given the pace at which Lagos events sell out, you might want to start planning now.
