Peter Obi has visited victims and communities affected by recent attacks in Benue State, renewing his call for stronger federal action to protect lives and property.

The visit covered Otukpo-Nobi and Efeyi-Ugboju in Otukpo Local Government Area, where recent attacks were reported to have left people dead, missing or injured.

Punch reported that Obi met affected residents and urged the Federal Government to intensify security efforts. Daily Post also reported his reaction, saying he accused government of failing in its duty to protect citizens and called for action against ungoverned spaces.

He said the attacks reflected a wider failure to secure vulnerable communities and urged the Federal Government to close the ungoverned spaces he said had become breeding grounds for insecurity.

During the visit, Obi said he joined the community in mourning those killed and visited injured residents in hospital.
