Hammed Ademola, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency II in the 2027 elections, and Accord aspirant Adedapo Ojo have joined the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State with their supporters.

The two politicians, who were seeking to represent the same constituency, formally announced their move at an event along Old Ife Road in Ibadan. Ademola is popularly known as Lucky.

The reports differ on how many supporters joined them. Daily Post put the number at more than 3,000, while Channels Television described hundreds. Ademola also referred to hundreds when speaking at the event.

Ademola said he decided to leave the PDP after assessing the political situation ahead of the 2027 elections. He argued that the APC offered better electoral prospects and pledged to work for the party.

Ojo said he had hoped to make Accord a credible alternative in the state but had concluded that the APC was better placed. He described his earlier efforts with Accord as unproductive.

Oyo APC chairman Moses Alake Adeyemo received the defectors and assured them of equal opportunities within the party. He urged them to work for the victory of APC candidates in the next elections.

The party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also welcomed the new members and promised an inclusive administration if elected. Channels Television reported his pledges to pay workers and pensioners regularly, provide training for workers and distribute infrastructure across the state’s zones.

Alli said he would establish an ICT hub in Ibadan within his first six months in office and extend the initiative to Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Oyo and Ibarapa before January 2029. He also promised a staffed and equipped general hospital in each of the state’s 33 local government areas.
