NIHSA Warns 17 States Of Flood Risk From July 21 To 27

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency has warned that 17 states could face flooding between July 21 and 27, urging residents and authorities in vulnerable areas to take precautions.

Punch and Daily Post reported that the warning was contained in NIHSA’s Alert NFA-2026-200, which identified locations where rainfall and river levels could increase flood risk during the period.

The agency said it was monitoring river levels and rainfall patterns, while advising state authorities and residents in affected areas to remain alert and follow local emergency guidance.

Flooding has repeatedly displaced communities and damaged farms, roads and homes across parts of Nigeria during the rainy season, making early warnings important for preparedness.

NIHSA did not say that flooding was certain in every listed location, but warned of possible risk as the monitoring period continues.
