The Nigerian Army has redeployed several senior officers and named Major General I. A. Ajose as Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai.

The postings were approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, according to a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.

Ajose moves from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations to the North East theatre, the command linked to operations against Boko Haram and other terror groups. Major General A. E. Abubakar, who previously served under Operation Hadin Kai, was moved to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean, Faculty of Operational Research.

The statement also listed new appointments across command, training, finance, standards and civil-military roles. The Army said the changes were meant to place experienced officers in operational theatres and other strategic offices.

Among the changes reported, Major General A. M. Umar moved to the Army War College Nigeria as commandant, Major General U. M. Alkali moved to the Department of Civil-Military Affairs, and Major General G. S. Muhammed was posted to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as director general.

The Army did not frame the redeployments as a dismissal or disciplinary action against the affected officers.
