Reports Say NFF President Gusau, Board Members Have Resigned

Nigeria’s football leadership has been thrown into fresh uncertainty after reports said NFF president Ibrahim Gusau and other board members had resigned.

The reports followed pressure on the federation over the state of Nigerian football, including the Super Falcons’ reported failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and continuing questions around the national teams.

Vanguard reported that the board had also faced scrutiny from security agencies over the use of a N17bn intervention fund approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024 to settle outstanding payments to national teams. Daily Post linked the development mainly to the Super Falcons’ World Cup qualification setback.

Both accounts named Gusau and other board members in the reported resignation, but they gave different emphasis to the trigger. No detailed official resignation statement from the NFF was included in the reports.

The development comes one day after NaijaTrend reported Fanny Amun’s resignation from an NFF committee here, a separate move tied to a football technical report.
