The Nigerian Bar Association has invited the DSS, ICPC and EFCC to monitor its 2026 national officers’ election scheduled for Saturday.

The move is a new step in the election dispute NaijaTrend previously covered here, after the association rejected claims that the process had been stopped by an alleged directive from the Attorney-General of the Federation.

NBA President Afam Osigwe said the association would go ahead with the electronic election and open the process to scrutiny. Vanguard reported that the NBA also invited foreign organisations that wished to observe the poll.

Osigwe said the Electoral Committee of the NBA was independent and that the association had no plan to favour any candidate. Daily Post reported that he said security operatives and foreign observers would give objective reports after the election.

The presidential race involves Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN; Oyinkansola Badejo-Okunsanya, SAN; and Lateef Akangbe, SAN. Vanguard also reported that the NBA said the managing director of its service provider, who had been detained by the SSS, had been released after the association intervened.
