Lagos Building Collapse Death Toll Rises To Nine, 27 Rescued In Satellite Town

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency says nine bodies have been recovered from the collapsed building site near Alakija Bus Stop in Satellite Town, Lagos.

The agency also said 27 people were rescued alive after the structure came down in the Amuwo-Odofin area on Thursday.

Daily Post reported that the building collapsed around 12:47 p.m., while Vanguard said the emergency agency had concluded search, rescue and recovery operations at the site.

The collapsed structure was described as a two-storey building near the busy Lagos-Badagry expressway corridor.

Emergency teams worked through the debris before the final casualty figure was announced. The figures were updated as responders recovered more bodies from the rubble.

The latest count differs from earlier reports that gave lower casualty figures while rescue work was still ongoing.

The Lagos incident is separate from the Port Harcourt building collapse already covered by NaijaTrend.
