Lagos emergency agencies reported four deaths on the Epe corridor on Wednesday, but their accounts gave different bridge locations and numbers of injured people.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki said four bus occupants, including the driver, died when a truck hit their vehicle on Alaro City Bridge, inward T-Junction, Epe.
Bakare-Oki said 13 bus passengers were critically injured and taken to a nearby medical facility by the Lagos State Ambulance Service. LASTMA and Federal Road Safety Corps personnel helped with the rescue.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), meanwhile, described a container truck overturning onto a Toyota Hiace bus at Berger Bridge, inward Eleko, along the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said four adult men died and six others were injured. The injured received first aid before being taken to Epe General Hospital.
It remains unclear whether the agencies were describing the same collision. Their injury figures and bridge descriptions have not been reconciled.
In a separate incident near Vetland School on Old Abeokuta Road, a truck hit a streetlight pole and mounted the median at about 4.09am. LASEMA said nobody was injured and the road reopened after the vehicle was removed.
Another truck collided with a Toyota Corolla at Lanre Bus Stop on LASU-Igando Road. LASEMA said the car driver sustained a minor head injury and was taken to Igando General Hospital.
Recovery of the truck at Lanre Bus Stop was still under way when LASEMA issued its statement.
