Kebbi ADC Alleges Political Witch-Hunt Against Malami
The African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State has accused the ruling APC and government institutions of targeting former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami for political reasons ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party said the legal actions and pressure around Malami were meant to discourage opposition figures from contesting future elections. It made the allegation in a statement signed by its state chairman, Sufiyanu Bala, and party elder Shehu Aliyu Sambawa.
The ADC said it was not against lawful investigation or prosecution where there is evidence of wrongdoing. But it argued that due process must be respected and that opposition politicians should not be intimidated through state institutions.
Vanguard reported that the Kebbi ADC also accused the Federal Government and the Kebbi State Government of trying to frustrate Malami’s political ambition. Tribune reported that the party described the matter as a political witch-hunt while saying it would continue to support lawful prosecution backed by credible evidence.
The allegation remains the ADC’s position. The Federal Government, Kebbi State Government and relevant anti-graft agencies had not issued detailed responses in the verified reports.
