KASU-ASUU suspends strike after Kaduna approves agreement

Lecturers at Kaduna State University have suspended their strike after the Kaduna State Government approved the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement for the university.
The suspension took effect at 12:01am on Friday, September 18, after the KASU branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities accepted approvals from the state government, the university governing council and management.
The agreement is to begin with the October 2026 salary. The university governing council and management also approved payment of nine months of accrued arrears covering January to September 2026.
The decision follows earlier tension at the university over welfare and agreement issues. NaijaTrend had reported the earlier ASUU warning and resignations dispute here.
KASU-ASUU chairman Abubakar Abdullahi and secretary Silas Bakut announced the suspension after a congress meeting on Thursday. Academic activities are expected to resume after the action was called off.
