Over 200 KASU Lecturers Resign As ASUU Threatens Strike

More than 200 lecturers have left Kaduna State University as the local branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities warns of an indefinite strike over welfare and agreement issues.

ASUU-KASU said the resignations included professors and other academic staff. The union linked the departures to poor conditions of service and the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement.

The union issued a two-week ultimatum to the Kaduna State Government, the university management and other relevant authorities to begin implementing the agreement. It warned that members could begin an indefinite strike if the issues are not addressed.

Punch and Vanguard both reported the resignations and the strike threat. Vanguard identified Abubakar Abdullahi as the ASUU-KASU chairman who spoke at a press conference in Kaduna, while Punch reported the union’s concern that the staff losses were weakening the university.
