Kano Launches Task Force Against Drug Abuse And Thuggery
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has inaugurated a multi-agency task force to tackle drug abuse and thuggery in the state.
The launch came with an executive order aimed at strengthening enforcement against groups linked to drug abuse and political violence. The task force is expected to bring together relevant security and state agencies.
Kano has faced recurring concerns over youth violence and drug-related crime. The state government says the new structure is meant to improve coordination and speed up enforcement.
Punch and Daily Post reported the inauguration, the anti-drug-abuse mandate and the executive order against thuggery.
The state government presented the task force as a response to two connected problems: drug abuse among young people and the street violence often linked to political groups.
The order is intended to guide coordination among relevant enforcement and state agencies as the new structure takes effect.
