ISWAP Attack Burns Police Post And Health Centre In Borno

Suspected ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters attacked a military position in Logomani, Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, killing a soldier before burning public facilities in the community.

Premium Times and Punch both reported that the attackers set fire to a police outpost, a primary healthcare centre and two classrooms after an assault on the Forward Operating Base in Logomani.

The military said troops of Operation Hadin Kai contained the attack after the insurgents briefly exploited part of the base’s defensive perimeter during a firefight.

According to the military account reported by Punch, one soldier died during the engagement, while two gun trucks and some combat equipment were damaged.

Residents said the attackers opened fire, forced people to flee and then moved through the community burning facilities. The destruction affected services that residents rely on, including health care and basic education.

Premium Times reported that soldiers, police officers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force pursued the attackers after the assault.

Ngala Local Government Chairman Mala Tijjani Ngala later visited Logomani to inspect the damaged facilities.

The attack is separate from the earlier ISWAP surrender and abductee-rescue story in Borno. This incident concerns the assault on Logomani facilities and the damage reported after the attack.
