Fubara Backs Wike-Led Rivers Coalition Ahead Of 2027
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has thrown his weight behind the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition in the state, giving the political alliance a major boost ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
Fubara said he would support the coalition being led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and also declared support for President Bola Tinubu.
The governor’s position puts him on the same side as the Wike camp after months of political tension in Rivers. The reports said the coalition is positioning itself around the APC governorship contest in the state.
Punch, Daily Post and Channels TV all reported the same alignment: Fubara backing the Rainbow Coalition, supporting Tinubu and identifying with the political structure around Wike.
The reports said Fubara also endorsed the APC governorship candidate being backed by the coalition. That makes the statement more than a courtesy call; it places the sitting governor inside a rival political structure ahead of the next election cycle.
Rivers politics has been shaped by the long-running split between Fubara and Wike. This declaration signals a fresh public alignment at a time when parties and power blocs are already preparing for 2027.
