Fresh attacks in Benue State have killed at least three people in Ohimini Local Government Area, with residents also reporting injuries, cattle rustling and a stolen motorcycle.

Daily Trust reported three deaths in attacks between Friday and Saturday in Elulu and Agadagba communities. Vanguard also reported at least four deaths after adding a separate Ukum account, so the confirmed Ohimini toll is being kept separate from the wider violence described in that report.

Ohimini council chairman Gabriel Adole said the attackers first struck Elulu on Friday, killing one person and taking a Bajaj motorcycle. He said the group later moved to Agadagba in an attempt to rustle cattle but initially met resistance from residents and vigilantes.

The attackers returned to Agadagba on Saturday and killed two more residents, according to Adole. He said two injured people, including the owner of the stolen motorcycle and another victim from the cattle-rustling incident, were receiving treatment.

Vanguard also reported attacks around Ochobo and Ogoli-Ugboju, and said a separate Ukum account involved a mother and children who suffered machete cuts. Those wider details were not all carried in the Daily Trust report.

Adole said security personnel and local vigilantes had been mobilised to the affected communities, adding that Governor Hyacinth Alia had directed local security support to help track the attackers.
