FG Bans Okada, Keke On Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

The Federal Ministry of Works has banned commercial motorcycles and tricycles on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

Premium Times reported that the restriction was announced in a statement on Sunday by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Olufemi Dare.

Vanguard also reported the ban, saying it takes effect this week and applies to the coastal highway and bridges across Lagos State.

Dare said the measure was introduced to protect newly constructed sections of the highway from misuse and deterioration.

The ministry also warned that trucks and articulated vehicles would no longer be allowed to park indiscriminately along the highway.

It further prohibited the dumping of refuse along highway corridors and said signs showing the restrictions had been installed.

Authorities said enforcement would follow against offenders as the government moves to preserve the road.

Vanguard reported that the restriction also covers bridges across Lagos State, while the ministry warned against dumping refuse along highway corridors.
