Davido, Adeleke Raise Alarm Over Alleged Arrest Of Osun PDP Chairman
Osun politics was hit by a fresh allegation on Saturday after singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, said the state PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, had been arrested in Ilesa during the governorship election.
Vanguard reported that Davido alleged in a post on X that police officers went to Bisi’s residence around 2pm and accused him of moving around on election day. The report said there had been no police statement confirming the arrest at the time it was filed.
Daily Post reported a separate statement from Governor Ademola Adeleke, who condemned the alleged arrest and called for Bisi’s immediate release. The statement, signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said Bisi was arrested at his residence shortly after returning from voting.
Adeleke alleged that the development was meant to intimidate his supporters and restrict monitoring of result collation. He also called for the release of other persons he described as political prisoners across the state.
The reports did not include a police confirmation of the alleged arrest, so the claims are attributed to Davido and Adeleke. The governor’s response made the allegation a fresh flashpoint during the Osun poll.
