The All Progressives Congress has revised its 2027 election timetable, moving the presidential primary from May 15 to May 23 and shifting the governorship primary to May 21.

APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary Duro Meseko announced the changes after the 186th National Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Thursday, saying the adjustments align with the Constitution, the Electoral Act 2026, and INEC’s revised schedule.

New dates

Under the revised timetable, nomination forms go on sale April 25 through May 2, with completed forms due by May 4. Screening holds May 6-8 for all positions, with presidential screening on May 9. Results published May 11, appeals May 12-13.

Primary elections follow: House of Representatives May 15, Senate May 18, State Assemblies May 20, Governorship May 21, and Presidential May 23.

Tinubu meets governors

President Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with APC governors at the State House, directing them to ensure “hitch-free” primaries. The delegation was led by NGF Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and PGF Chairman Hope Uzodimma.

The meeting reinforces the dynamic from earlier this week, when Tinubu told senators seeking automatic return tickets that governors control candidate selection. The party also confirmed no restriction on nomination forms, though the ₦100 million presidential form fee remains.
