Adeleke Plans Inquiry Into Osun Election Killings And Violence

Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke says the state will set up an independent inquiry after the August 15 governorship election to investigate reported killings and violence linked to the poll period.

The governor said the panel would be constituted next Monday, immediately after the election, to establish what happened and recommend action against anyone found responsible, regardless of political affiliation or position.

Adeleke’s address was read in Osogbo by the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi. He offered condolences to families who lost relatives and said the state would also prepare support for them.

The statement framed the planned inquiry as part of the government’s response to repeated violence around the election campaign. It also urged residents to remain peaceful as voting approaches.

The governor said the election would pass but Osun residents would still have to live together after it, adding that the dead deserved justice and their families deserved compassion.
