ADC Demands Judicial Inquiry Into PFIPC Scandal
The African Democratic Congress has asked President Bola Tinubu to set up an independent judicial commission of inquiry into the controversy around the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. NaijaTrend’s earlier report on Atiku Abubakar’s related demand is here.
Daily Post and Punch reported that the demand was made in a Friday statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
The ADC said the Presidency’s July 1 response, issued through presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga, left more questions because the government described the PFIPC as fictitious while allegations suggested it interacted with public institutions.
The party said the matter should not be treated as the act of one individual, arguing that several offices and agencies should explain how the alleged body could have secured approvals, budget references, official correspondence and access to government systems.
It named institutions and offices it wants investigated, including the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Budget Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, security agencies, the Central Bank of Nigeria and relevant National Assembly committees.
