President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), with five-year terms subject to Senate confirmation.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced the nominations in a State House statement on Friday, naming three returning directors and three new nominees.
The proposed appointments cover finance, petroleum infrastructure, health and safety, economic regulation and administration. The Senate must approve the six nominations before the terms take effect.
Abiodun Adeniji is nominated to return as executive director for finance and accounts. Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha is nominated for distribution systems, storage and retailing infrastructure, while Mustapha Lamorde is nominated for health, safety, environment and community.
Among the new nominees, Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa is proposed for hydrocarbon processing plants, installations and transportation infrastructure. Ogechukwu Modie is nominated for economic regulations and strategic planning, and Said Abutalib for corporate services and administration.
Tinubu also approved Jumoke Gafar as secretary to the board and legal adviser, subject to the statutory processes under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
The authority’s chief executive, Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, was appointed in April. Onanuga said Tinubu asked the Senate to consider the latest nominations promptly; the statement gave no confirmation date.
