ADC Blames Tinubu’s Economic Policies For Rising Poverty And Hunger

The African Democratic Congress has blamed rising poverty and hunger in Nigeria on President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.

The opposition party said the government’s reforms had not improved living conditions for ordinary Nigerians despite official claims of stronger revenue, growth and reserves.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC cited World Bank and World Food Programme figures, including an estimate that about 139 million Nigerians live below the national poverty line and 17 million face acute hunger.

The party said palliatives could not solve poverty and argued that Nigeria needed policies that help people produce more food, earn better incomes and live with dignity.

It promised that an ADC-led government would focus on security in farming communities, irrigation, storage, agro-processing and stronger agricultural value chains.
