APC governors deny alliance with Wike-linked Rainbow Coalition
APC governors have denied entering any alliance with a Rainbow Coalition linked to FCT minister Nyesom Wike, saying the party will not accept parallel political structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governors, speaking through the Progressive Governors Forum, said their loyalty remained with the APC and President Bola Tinubu. They warned party members against groups that could weaken the party from within or create confusion over its 2027 direction.
The denial followed reports and political discussion around a Wike-led coalition that some party figures said could operate inside or alongside the APC. The governors said any mobilisation for 2027 must pass through recognised party organs.
Punch reported that the governors distanced themselves from the coalition and denied backing an alliance. Vanguard also reported the warning against parallel structures, quoting the governors as saying the party would resist moves that could undermine its unity.
