Fresh documents have added a new layer to the fake-agency controversy that led President Bola Tinubu to suspend three permanent secretaries and order an arrest in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The latest reports focus on how the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office allegedly presented itself to state governments and on an appointment letter said to have been issued to its coordinator, George Buchi Nwabueze.

Premium Times reported that the office wrote to governors in Lagos, Imo, Ondo, Sokoto, Edo and Nasarawa between January and February, seeking state support, coordinators, funding or fees, land and participation in programmes in Nigeria and abroad. The outlet said the documents carried presidency-related insignia and described the office as operating from the OSGF.

Daily Trust reported that Nwabueze shared a purported appointment letter on LinkedIn. The letter, dated October 3, 2025, carried an OSGF letterhead and named him as national coordinator and executive director of the Made in Nigeria Project Office, according to the report.

The ICPC chairman, Musa Aliyu, had linked the discovery to a wider investigation into the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and gaps in government procedures. NaijaTrend earlier reported Tinubu’s suspension order here.

The new documents do not settle who authorised the office. They do, however, widen the questions around how the operation secured official-looking papers, approached states and continued presenting itself as a federal initiative before the probe became public.
