Nigeria Super Falcons players line up before a match.

The Nigeria Football Federation has asked the Super Falcons technical crew to step down after Nigeria failed to secure a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The decision came days after the team’s World Cup miss, which NaijaTrend earlier reported here. The federation’s executive committee issued the directive on Monday and did not give a detailed public explanation beyond the immediate change.

Punch and Vanguard reported that the instruction affected members of the technical crew with immediate effect. Both reports tied the move to a poor campaign by the nine-time African champions, who missed automatic qualification after their recent run.

The development leaves the federation with another major football decision to make before the next competitive cycle. It also adds pressure on the NFF to explain how the women’s national team will be rebuilt after a rare failure to reach the World Cup.
