Court Gives Police Two Weeks To Probe Fadahunsi Over Accord Comment

An Abuja Magistrate Court has directed the police to investigate a criminal complaint against Senator Francis Fadahunsi over an alleged comment about members of the Accord Party ahead of the Osun governorship election.

The order gives the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, two weeks to investigate the complaint and report back to the court.

The case follows a viral video dispute that had already drawn calls for security agencies to act. In an earlier NaijaTrend report here, Governor Ademola Adeleke asked security agencies to investigate Fadahunsi, while the senator said his remark was a political metaphor, not a call for violence.

The new court directive was contained in an August 13 letter signed by Abdulraham Yusuf, Registrar of the Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja. The letter referred to a direct criminal complaint between Pelumi Olajengbesi and Fadahunsi.

Olajengbesi, the campaign spokesman for Governor Adeleke, filed the complaint over comments attributed to Fadahunsi in the viral video. He alleged that the senator’s words encouraged violence against Accord Party members and supporters before the August 15 election.

Fadahunsi represents Osun East Senatorial District. The latest court step adds a legal track to the political row, which has become one of the flashpoints in the final stretch of the Osun election campaign.
