Reps Panel Summons Ribadu, Odumegwu-Ojukwu Over PFIPC Probe

The House of Representatives panel investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council has summoned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

The summons raises the stakes in the PFIPC controversy, which has already drawn questions from lawmakers over how the council presented itself as a federal body despite lacking a clear legal basis.

Premium Times reported that the committee asked Ribadu to explain what action his office took on the council. Daily Trust reported that the Foreign Ministry told the panel it rejected the council’s requests for collaboration after finding problems in documents submitted by its self-described director-general, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

The committee, chaired by Yusuf Gagdi, is examining how the council operated and approached public institutions. The ministry’s permanent secretary, Dunoma Ahmed, said the ministry had no official relationship with the PFIPC.
