ADC Asks INEC To Probe Rival Faction Over Nomination Portal Claim
The African Democratic Congress has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to investigate claims by a rival faction that it uploaded names of a presidential candidate and other nominees to INEC’s nomination portal.
The party dismissed the claim by the group led by Nafiu Bala Gombe, saying only the leadership recognised by INEC has access to the nomination portal and nomination codes.
In a statement issued on Monday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said INEC could not issue portal access to a leadership it does not recognise or give two nomination codes to the same party.
The ADC asked the rival group to provide evidence of the alleged upload. It also called on INEC to investigate what it described as possible forgery and unauthorised use of documents said to have come from the commission.
Daily Post reported the party’s denial, while Punch reported the call for INEC to investigate the rival faction’s claim.
