Tinubu Says Nigeria Will Use AI, Emerging Technology Against Insecurity
President Bola Tinubu says his administration will rely more heavily on artificial intelligence, emerging technology and local defence production to confront Nigeria’s security threats.
Tinubu gave the pledge at the grand finale of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2026 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He said the government is working to improve operational planning and combat readiness by adopting new technologies and building capacity across military operations.
The president also linked the plan to the revitalisation of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, saying local production would create skilled jobs and reduce dependence on foreign arms supply.
Tinubu said the administration would continue modernising the Army so it can respond to current security challenges and strengthen Nigeria’s role in defence diplomacy.
The NADCEL event was held under the theme “Protecting the Nation and Serving the People: A Way Forward for the Nigerian Army.”
