The Kano State chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum has appointed a three-member interim leadership team following the resignation of its chairman, Goni Umar.

The team comprises Isyaku Tofa, Bala Sani and Rabia Adamu. They will work with the remaining executive committee members for the rest of the current tenure, pending the election of a new chairman.

Haliru Akilu announced the appointments at a joint meeting of the forum’s Board of Trustees representatives from Kano and the chapter’s executive committee on Saturday, October 24. The meeting took place at the Late Amina Habib ACF Secretariat in Kano.

The chapter’s spokesperson, Nasiru Ibrahim, said Umar cited the demands of his busy schedule in his resignation letter. Akilu acknowledged receipt of the letter and thanked him for his service.

Akilu said the interim arrangement was intended to restore cooperation and resolve disagreements within the chapter. He urged members to set aside their differences and said the meeting was aimed at finding solutions rather than reopening past disputes.

He also commended the official who had served as acting chairman for about four months during Umar’s absence. Daily Trust identified him as Assistant Controller-General of Narcotics Abubakar Idris Ahmed.

The three interim leaders thanked members for the confidence placed in them and pledged to serve the chapter. The reports did not give a date for the election of a substantive chairman.
