World Athletics Approves Nigeria’s Six World Relays Entries for Gaborone 2026

Nigeria will compete in all six relay events at the 2026 World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana, after World Athletics confirmed the country’s entries.

The approval covers men’s and women’s 4x100m, men’s and women’s 4x400m, and both mixed relay events. The competition runs May 2-3.

Nigeria had initially qualified for three events but was granted approval for the remaining disciplines following an application by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

Team Composition

The men’s 4x100m squad includes Olympic finalist Enoch Adegoke, Favour Ashe, James Emmanuel, Chidera Ezeakor, and Tejiri Godwin.

The men’s 4x400m team features Ezekiel Azukwo, Gafari Badmus, Victor Ime, Samson Nathaniel, Emmanuel Ojeli, and Chidi Okezie.

The women’s 4x100m lists Jenifer Chukwuka, Rosemary Chukwuma, Miracle Ezechukwu, Rosemary Nwankwo, Maria Omokwe, and Blessing Ogundiran.

Preparations

Training is already underway at the Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos under technical director Gabriel Okon. Foreign-based athletes will join the squad in Gaborone ahead of the event.

The competition features 723 athletes from 40 countries, including the United States, Jamaica, and host nation Botswana led by Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo.
