Resident doctors at the University College Hospital in Ibadan have suspended their three-day warning strike and directed members to resume work.

The Association of Resident Doctors told members to return to their duty posts at 8am on Thursday, October 15. A memo signed by its president, Dr Uthman Adedeji, and general secretary, Dr Mary Awodiji, said the warning strike had been completed.

Vanguard, in a News Agency of Nigeria report, said the doctors began the strike on Monday over persistent power problems and water shortages at the College of Medicine axis of the hospital.

The association is seeking the restoration of electricity to the area, repairs to faulty circuit breakers to provide backups, and uninterrupted power across the hospital.

The doctors had given management a seven-day ultimatum running from October 12 to October 19. They said they could begin an indefinite strike if their demands remained unmet.

The memo urged members to resume promptly and said congress would receive updates on the stipulated timelines in the coming days.
