Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued three kidnap victims in Kaduna State and foiled separate attacks in Zamfara State, according to reports from Daily Trust and Daily Post.

The operation was announced in a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West.

Daily Trust reported that troops responded on June 18 to a distress call about armed bandits moving through the Kerawa area of Igabi Local Government Area. The soldiers rescued Bilkisu Hayatu, Habibah Sadisu and one-year-old Abdulmutallib Sadisu after the kidnappers abandoned them.

Daily Post reported that preliminary findings showed the victims had been abducted from Kajenjere Tami Village on May 17 and were being moved towards a hideout in Birnin Gwari before troops intercepted the movement.

In Zamfara, troops working with other security agencies foiled a planned attack on Gamdanda Village in Gummi Local Government Area on June 20. The military said weapons, ammunition, eight motorcycles and food items were recovered.

The statement also said troops arrested suspected extremists and informants in a separate intelligence-led operation. In Maru Local Government Area, troops repelled another attack, though three soldiers were killed during the encounter.
