Troops Kill Boko Haram Fighter, Foil Levy Collection In Yobe
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed one Boko Haram/ISWAP fighter while stopping an alleged extortion mission in Yobe State.
The operation took place on July 20 around Buni Gari in Gujba Local Government Area, according to a statement from Lieutenant Sani Uba, Acting Military Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai.
The military said the fighters were attempting to collect money from civilians when troops of Sector 2 engaged them. One fighter was killed during the exchange.
Items recovered after the operation included an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle, mobile phones and other logistics, Channels TV and Punch reported.
The army said the operation disrupted an attempt to raise money from residents and weakened the group’s activity in the area.
