Troops Foil Boko Haram Extortion Operation In Yobe, Arrest Suspected Suppliers
Troops have foiled what the military described as a Boko Haram/ISWAP operation to extort money from communities in Yobe State, arresting suspected logistics suppliers and recovering ammunition.
Daily Trust and Daily Post reported that the operation took place around Paya Kafiya in Yobe, where troops intercepted two Volkswagen Golf vehicles linked to the alleged mission.
The reports said one suspect was killed during the encounter while four others escaped with injuries. The military said ammunition and other items were recovered from the scene.
Daily Post reported that the troops also arrested suspected suppliers during related operations in Kebbi State. The military said the activities formed part of continuing operations by Operation HADIN KAI and Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the North-East and North-West.
The accounts did not identify the arrested suspects or say when they would be charged.
