Troops Arrest Wanted Soldier Accused Of Supplying Uniforms To Terrorists

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a soldier wanted by the Nigerian Army over allegations that he supplied military uniforms and other items to terrorist groups in the North-East.

The suspect was identified in the reports as 23NA/84/1939 Private Mohammed Yusuf of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility in Lagos.

He was reportedly arrested around 6.30pm on July 25 at Jidari Bus Stop after troops placed him under surveillance. The reports said he was trying to flee towards Cameroon when he was intercepted.

Preliminary findings cited in the reports said the soldier had left his unit and travelled to Maiduguri on July 7, where he allegedly went into hiding.

Investigators also alleged that another soldier, Private Baba Kamal Sale of the Corps of Intelligence in Dikwa, sheltered him at Gomari Costain in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.

The arrested soldier is being held by the 7 Provost Group while the military checks the alleged supply network and whether other collaborators were involved.
