Troops Arrest Sudanese Suspected Terrorist Fighter, Ghanaian Woman In Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two foreign nationals in Borno State, including a Sudanese man suspected of being a foreign terrorist fighter and a Ghanaian woman described as an illegal immigrant.
Punch, Premium Times and Channels TV reported that the suspects were arrested in the Lassa and Dille general area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area. The operation was carried out by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion at about 11:48 a.m. on July 19, 2026.
The Army identified the Sudanese suspect as 32-year-old Musa Fashir. Punch reported that he was described as a suspected foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator. The Ghanaian woman was identified as 36-year-old Mary Florence.
Capt. Muhammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, said the arrests were part of continuing intelligence-driven operations in the North-East. Channels TV reported that the operation took place as troops sustained counter-terrorism activity across the theatre.
The arrest of foreign nationals in the area will likely draw attention because parts of Borno remain vulnerable to insurgent movement, cross-border networks and rural hideouts. Security agencies are expected to carry out further screening before any court or immigration process.
