A 15-year-old boy has been killed and cattle rustled in a fresh attack on Olahimu village in Ogoli Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

Daily Trust and Vanguard reported that the attack hit the community this week and forced some residents to flee. The dead boy was identified as Muhammad Isiyaku, while a labourer, Saidu Musa, was reported missing.

The attackers were said to have targeted cattle belonging to the family of the late Ardo Risku Muhammad, a former Benue State chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria who was killed weeks earlier.

Vanguard reported that about 500 cattle were initially rustled, though many were later recovered during searches around the Okudu axis. Some animals were found dead and others remained missing.

Otukpo council chairman Maxwell Ogiri said security personnel and local youths were mobilised after he received a distress call, but the attackers had fled with the cattle before they arrived. The family appealed to security agencies to help find the missing labourer and recover the remaining cattle.
