Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has called up Millwall winger Femi Azeez to the national team squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Poland and Portugal in June, OwnGoal Nigeria has reported.

The 25-year-old, who scored a brace on his Super Eagles debut against Zimbabwe in the Unity Cup semi-final, replaces Samuel Chukwueye in the squad. Chukwueye is bereaved after burying his mother in Owerri and has been granted time off by the coaching staff.

Poland Coach Questions His Team’s Mental Readiness

Ahead of the friendly, Poland coach Jan Urban has expressed doubts about his players’ mental readiness for the match against Nigeria, according to ThisDay. Urban was seen observing Super Eagles training footage and is reportedly concerned about the physical intensity the Nigerian side is expected to bring.

Azeez’s club, Millwall, has been contacted regarding his availability for the June international window. Barring injury in the Unity Cup final against Jamaica on Saturday, the winger is expected to travel with the squad for the European tour.

The friendly against Poland is scheduled for June 5, while the Portugal fixture will follow on June 10, as part of the Super Eagles’ preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this year.
