Enugu Rangers are NPFL champions again. A 2-1 win over Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on the final day of the season sealed it — captain Chidiebere Nwobodo scoring both goals, the first a clean strike on the half-hour and the second a rebound conversion after the break.

Ikorodu City pulled one back but never looked like saving it. Rangers finished on 68 points, one ahead of Rivers United, who beat Katsina United 3-0 but still came up short.

Nine Titles, Level with Enyimba

The championship is Rangers’ ninth, drawing them level with Enyimba as the most successful club in NPFL history. It is also back-to-back titles for the Flying Antelopes, who won the league in 2024 under coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.

Both Rangers and Rivers United will represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League. Shooting Stars SC took the final continental slot, finishing third to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.

For Ikorodu City, it was a painful end — missing out on continental football on the final day for the second consecutive season.
